TESTAMENT Live

Formation of Damnation

On April 4th, 2008, a lengthy line of denim jackets, long hair and metal shirts stretched down the block from BB Kings Bar & Grille in NYC’s Times Square.

This legion of fans was patiently waiting to see the legendary Bay Area thrashers Testament, who were in town to promote their ninth studio album, The Formation of Damnation (Nuclear Blast).

The excitement was no doubt in part due to the fact that Damnation features the original Testament lineup of vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick and bassist Greg Christian, with the addition of former member Paul Bostaph on drums.

When Testament finally hit the stage several hours later, the energy was uncontrollable. Armed with our cameras, MetalKult was fortunate to witness the electric set, which contained a solid mix of vintage and new hard-thrashing metal.

Below, check out “Over the Wall,” “Into the Pit,” “Practice What You Preach” and “Apocalyptic City” from that show:

It’s amazing how tight the guys still are after 20 years. It illustrates dedication not only to the awesome music that is TestAmenT but their undying commitment and appreciation for the fans. Big bands from the same era cannot claim the same commitment to excellence.

Thanks for MetalKult for putting these vids up, and more importantly thanks to Chuck, Alex, Eric, Paul, and Greg for being TestAmenT through all the turmoil, strife, pain, and anguish.

I saw those guys about 15 years ago on the Clash of the Titans tour with Megadeth and Slayer. They still kick serious ass 15 years later.

Its like seeing an old friend again. Just like old times. Allways and still my favorite band. Back in 1993 i joined a list of people, to take guitar lessons from the great, (alex skolnik). When i got a phone call telling me it was my turn, i couldent believe it. Wouldent you know it! I was broke, with no transportation to Berkley, Ca. I will always regret that. THANKS TESTAMENT FOR ALL THE MEMROBLE TIMES.

I was at that show at BB King! Great night and I got to meet the band and take pics with them. Also, I got to sing “Into the Pit” everytime Chuck Billy passed the mic into the crowd. Testament kicks ass!

Hey dude, they’re playing a show in Oklahoma. Kansas is right next to Oklahoma practically. I know it’s really not, but it’s the closest you’lll get. Besides, it gets better. Motorhead goes on after them, then comes the best part. JUDAS PRIEST!! It’s at the Zoo Amphitheater. Tickets are $75.00 for V.I.P., $45.00 for Express (Get in a half hour early and usually see the headlining band soundcheck, which gives you a chance to get an autograph.), and $30.00 for General Admission. I’m going. It’s gonna’ rock!! Maybe I’ll see you there.

testament has once again proved why they are the best thrash metal band on the whole damn planet. with or without the original line up they prove time and time again, album after album, show after show why they are the greatest. everysong on the new album is excellent, i personally feel that it was good for the band to go there seperate ways, broaden their horizones. all the while eric and chuck kept it rollin, with the return of alex, greg and the addition of drum god paul (forbidden evil). theyve returned to the days of the legacy and new order. the staple that made testament the powerhouse of thrash scene. my only hope that this wont be a short lived reunion.(alex stick around) but if it is im glad ive waited this long for your return and when you get to portland ill see you in the pit. a legion in hiding
