About MetalKult
MetalKult.com – Your Ultimate Extreme Metal Source
As part of the Guitar World and Revolver family, MetalKult’s daily stream of information— in-depth video interviews, breaking news, exclusive live and behind-the-scenes footage— connects you to all that’s worth knowing in the outer realms of metal, hardcore and heavy music. Lock and Load.
+++ FOUNDING EDITORS +++
Brad Angle
Along with managing the MetalKult action, Brad is a senior editor at Guitar World magazine. His writing has also appeared in the pages of Revolver, Alternative Press, Bass Guitar and CMJ Monthly.
Jimmy Hubbard
When Hubbard is not looking at/taking picture of dudes with guitars as Guitar World magazine’s photo director, he is selecting the crème de la crème of the metal elite for inclusion on MetalKult.com. As the creative editor of the site, Hubbard shoots, edits and selects much of the amazing content you see before you. Score!
+++ CONTRIBUTORS +++
Butch Asimov
When we asked Butch for a bio, this is what arrived: “Butch Asimov is a failed U.S. Government experiment of the Sixties. He is currently looking for women around the outskirts of Calcutta.” Do we believe him? You decide.
Angela Boatwright
Hailing from Columbus, Ohio, Angela is a New York City based photographer—and metalhead lifer—who’s work has appeared in many magazines, including Nylon, Vibe, Guitar World and W. She is also the photo editor at Mass Appeal magazine, runs her own company, Killer of Giants, and knows more about Diamond Head than you (or we) do.
Ian Caskey
Ian is a Southern-born, Brooklyn-embedded author who reports from the outer edge of extreme and occult metal. We’ve never actually seen him, but we imagine that he’s shut in a windowless cellar, where he scratches his prose into small black notebooks. We’re told his collection of short stories, tentatively titled How Deep Is Your Wound? should arise sometime in 2009.
Geoff Garlock
Geoff played bass in hardcore luminaries Orchid, and also handled bass duties in the ultimate Orchid fan bumout band Panthers. Geoff also spends alot of time writing sketch comedy at Upright Citizens Brigade theatre for his Maude team The Skuntz. But honestly Geoff spends most of his time on the couch in his underwear, listening to metal and watching movies with his dog and ladyfriend. Dare to dream.
Mike Hill
When he’s not fronting the Brooklyn hardcore outfit Tombs, Mike runs his label, Black Box Recordings, where he records and produces many extreme and hardcore artists.
+++ INTERN +++
Henry Yuan
By far the tallest member of the MetalKult crew, Henry spends most of his time digitizing an endless stream of copy over at Guitar World.com. When he comes up for air, Henry writes well-informed reviews on various extreme metal bands. He has also flown 3,000 miles to see Cynic live, which displays exactly the unhealthy level of metal commitment that we here at MetalKult appreciate.

Congrats ya bastards!!
‘Bout friggin’ time!
DM
thankyou,want guitar lessons!!!!!!!!!!!
The artwork here… is PUSHEAD the artist? Cool by the way. Cheerz !
If you put professional official extreme metal transcriptions on your page, for free or otherwise (not like that cheap innacurate crap that is all over the net), I am sure that you would significantly increase the number of people who log onto your page every day. Official extreme metal band transcriptions are very hard to impossible to find anywhere else. This is an untapped market and service which would greatly enhance the quality of your internet niche.
The artist who designed MetalKult’s layout is John Baizley. He’s also the guitarist for the band Baroness. Totally talented dude. Check ‘em out: yourbaroness.com
Hey, I think I saw Lacuna Coil in the Denver airport a few weeks ago, and I’ve been wondering when MetalKult is going to give us some news on them?
Hey, this looks great! Good job!
Lock and load indeed. It’s about time. Nice work!
I read this you ad at Revolver Magz (october 2007). Is that pics on your header section and the ad is made by John Dyer??? Cool.
Btw, I made a webzine too, check that out at www.klanks.com or you can log on too at www.myspace.com/praankdistribution. Thanks.
